painfully sincere

tidbits and musings that might just make painfully sincere the new cynical.
I never thought flowers would cause me stress, but I also never planned a wedding.
The wedding-industrial-complex has reasserted its ugly head. We decided last night to nix floral centerpieces in lieu of stacks of used books tied together with wide ribbons, which I love. So this morning I tried to finalize plans for the flowers that we will have, and it’s become incredibly complicated. What are our wedding colors?  What will the choice of blooms and colors say about us as a couple? Will they complement everyone’s attire?  What’s our arrangement style—bohemian, classic, modern, or romantic? After poking around on the blog offbeatbride and looking at photos elsewhere on the web, I got overwhelmed. I think I’ll stick to my original plan, which was for wildflowers that look like they could’ve been cut from someone’s garden. Except that I don’t know anyone with said garden, so they’d come from a florist. But are they organic?  Argh!
As with most the wedding-planning angst, it feels very frivolous for these times.
